2012 Sweet Pea ShowThe GFGS 2nd Open Sweet Pea Show was held on 21st July 2012 in Shurdington Community Centre. Click on pictures for a larger version (that opens in a new window)
The judge, Mr Harvey who is a qualified sweet pea judge from Bristol, commented that even the non-awarded exhibits were of a much higher standard than last year. We had no non-spenser cultivars, even though there was a class specifically for them. The winner of the best vase was of standard to be expected in a national show.
The winners were: Three Vase ClassClass 1: Five stems per vase, one distinct cultivar per vase. Spencer type. (This Class was sponsored by Mr. Phil Kerton of Kerton Sweet Peas)
Single Vase ClassClass 2: One vase, white or cream. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Class 3: One vase, red, orange/red or orange. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Class 4: One vase, magenta, maroon or purple. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Class 5: One vase, mauve, lavender or blue. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Class 6: One vase, pink. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Class 7: One vase, picotee or fancy. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Class 8: One vase, mixed cultivars. Five stems per vase. Spencer type.
Mixed Bowl Class.Class 9: A Bowl of not more than 20 stems of sweet peas. Spencer type. To be viewed all round and judged for quality and decorative effect.
Class 10: A vase of 5 old fashioned sweet peas. Class 11: A pot or container of flowering sweet pea plants (maximum pot size 8 or 204mm)
